Holidays can be very stressful and trying to please everyone just makes everything harder. That’s why I don’t even try it.
When you get married, you don’t just earn a husband or wife, you also get a set of parents who will sometimes expect you to do things their way. And many times, their expectations won’t match your plans, which might lead to family conflicts. In this case, a dispute started because of Holiday plans.
This woman’s mother-in-law doesn’t seem to like her son’s wife very much. According to her post on Reddit, they have a history of “incidents”.
Ever since they got married, she demanded to be prioritized over the woman’s parents and threw tantrums when things didn’t go her way. Luckily, her son realizes how toxic she is and doesn’t fall for her theatrics.
She has had a lot of “demands,” including one regarding the wedding. The MIL expected the bride to get ready at her house, instead of her family’s place, because she is “like her daughter”.
This year, the couple made Holiday plans, making sure they get to see everyone. But for the MIL, it wasn’t enough.
She threw another one of her tantrums, but this time, she added some insults toward her daughter-in-law and her family.
The woman reacted and talked back to her mother-in-law, and now she’s wondering if that was wrong. Her husband would have preferred to deal with his mom on his own.
