15 Life Lessons We’ve Learned From Winnie The Pooh

Life Lessons We've Learned From Winnie The Pooh Famous Quotes

We can learn a lot of positive things from children’s cartoons, do you agree?

If we open our minds and hearts, we can learn from everything and everyone around us. Even children’s cartoons can teach us some valuable life lessons that will help us in our adult life. Here are 15 life lessons we’ve learned from Winnie The Pooh.

1. “A hug is always the right size.” - Winnie the Pooh

“A hug is always the right size.” - Winnie the Pooh positive quote

A warm hug, your sincere love, and a gesture of kindness are always the right gift for anyone. Rich or poor, big or small, tall or short, black or white, young or old… kindness is something we all need, and something we can all give. We all need love, at any time, and it is one of the few things we can give away for free, through a hug, a kiss, a smile, or a kind word towards a stranger. And unlike a physical gift, love is never the wrong thing to offer.

2. “After all, one can’t complain. I have my friends.” - Eeyore

“After all, one can’t complain. I have my friends.” - Eeyore

Even if I lose all my possessions, as long as I have my loved ones, I will consider myself blessed. I truly believe that the biggest treasure one can have is not in a bank account but in the people around them. As long as you have your friends and family, you are rich, no matter how wealthy or poor you are. With your loved ones by your side, you will be able to overcome anything life throws at you.

3. “The things that make me different are the things that make me, me.” - Piglet

“The things that make me different are the things that make me, me.” - Piglet

We are all so different! We have quirks, we have flaws, and that is so beautiful about us. Our so-called “imperfections” are what make us unique, authentic, and our own selves. So, instead of trying to fix the things that make us one of a kind to be like everybody else, maybe we should embrace them. We’re not supposed to be all the same. We don’t all have to fit in the same box.

4. “You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” - Christopher Robin

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” - Christopher Robin

Let that sink in, because it’s true. You never know how brave you are, until you face a challenge. You never know how strong you are, until you take a hit. We often say “I could never survive that, I couldn’t take that, I’m not smart or good enough.” But the truth is, everything you need is already inside you, and you can do anything! Don’t underestimate yourself.

5. “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” - Winnie the Pooh

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” - Winnie the Pooh

The “small things” in our lives always turn out to be “the big things”. A walk in the park with someone you love, a child’s laughter, baking a cake with your grandma, a glass of wine with your best friends… they are such important moments, even if they seem so ordinary when they happen. But as time passes and you look back, you realize these are the times you cherish the most.

6. “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.” - Eeyore

“A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.” - Eeyore

A tiny gesture of kindness makes all the difference in the world. You being nice to a random stranger can change their day, or maybe even their life. You giving someone your parking spot is a tiny gesture. But for the other person, it can mean they arrive in time at the hospital to say goodbye to a dying parent. Your little act of kindness can change the world, so please hold the elevator for that neighbor, help that old lady with her bags, and pay for that struggling mom’s groceries. It makes all the difference.

7. “A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.” - Winnie the Pooh

“A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.” - Winnie the Pooh

If only we could get together with our friends every day! Especially after a rough day, talking to your best friend is therapy… Like honey for your soul. Even a short laugh over the phone can brighten your day if you can’t spare the time to meet for a glass of wine.

8. “The most wonderful thing about Tiggers is, I’m the only one.” - Tigger

“The most wonderful thing about Tiggers is, I’m the only one.” - Tigger

The most wonderful thing about us all is that there’s only one of all of us. We are unique, and that’s so great! We have different views and beliefs, likes and dislikes, preferences, dreams, and points of view. People often think having differences is a good reason to argue, but they could just as well connect us, if only we were open to learning more about each other.

9. “It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine.” - Eeyore

“It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine.” - Eeyore

Even in the darkest times, keep looking for sunshine, and you will find your way to the light. It can’t hurt to try and see the bright side in any bad situation. While you’re looking for it, you may find an opportunity, a blessing, or a way out of your struggle. So, keep looking. And not just in situations, but in people, too. There is a little bit of sunshine in all of us…

10. “You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” - Winnie the Pooh

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” - Winnie the Pooh

Opportunity rarely falls at your feet. Most of the time, you have to look hard for it, or even create it yourself. So, while it’s good to stay in your lane, and mind your own business, sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and make things happen.

11. “Rivers know this: There is no hurry. We shall get there someday.” - Winnie the Pooh

“Rivers know this: There is no hurry. We shall get there someday.” - Winnie the Pooh

There is something to learn from each thing and being on this planet. For example, the pineapple teaches us to be sweet inside and proudly wear our crown, while the river teaches us there’s no need to hurry. We’ll get there when we get there. Like the river, we have a path and a natural rhythm to reach our destination. There’s no need to hurry because like the river, we will get there. By rushing our lives, we will skip important steps, and cause a lot of damage on our way. So, let’s enjoy each wave, taking it one day at a time until we reach the end of our journey.

12. “Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.” - Winnie the Pooh

“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.” - Winnie the Pooh

It’s so important to take the breaks you need. Take the time to relax, to do nothing, and recharge. Too often, we underestimate the importance of doing nothing. We are used to always being on the run, rushing, being busy, and we forget to make time and recharge our batteries.

13. “Could be worse. Not sure how, but it could be.” - Eeyore

“Could be worse. Not sure how, but it could be.” - Eeyore

I think we’ve all learned this lesson, loud and clear, in the past few years. Whenever we thought “ok, this is finally over”, something worse came along. So, yeah… it can always be worse. Not sure how, and I hope we never find out.

14. “Always watch where you are going. Otherwise, you may step on a piece of the Forest that was left out by mistake.” - Winnie the Pooh

“Always watch where you are going. Otherwise, you may step on a piece of the Forest that was left out by mistake.” - Winnie the Pooh

It’s important to pay attention, stay focused, and watch your step. Wherever you are going, always keep your eyes on the target. Sometimes we get lost among details, things get complicated, and we forget where we’re headed. Remember the destination, watch your step, and don’t rush things. You’ll get there right in time, and you’ll grow beautifully.

15. “It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like, ‘What about lunch?’” - Winnie the Pooh

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like, ‘What about lunch?’” - Winnie the Pooh

We take ourselves way too seriously, and that should stop. I am tired of spending time with pretentious people, who get ‘offended’ and upset over politics and insignificant ‘issues’. I want to be around people who make me laugh, and who like fun, wine, and ice cream. Because life’s too short for anything else.
